The Road Through Howe Park Woods

Saturday 10th November

Westbury Arts Centre

They shut the road through Howe Park Woods, seventy years ago.
Weather and rain have undone it again, and now you would never know
There was once a road through the woods before they planted the trees.
It is underneath the coppice and heath and the thin anemones.
Only the keeper sees that, where the ring-dove broods,
And the badgers roll at ease, there was once a road through the woods.

Something different this time, A full painting day using oil paints, and painted in the Bob Ross style. You can choose the colours you want it in, and there are some examples below.

You Don’t Need Skill, Just A Desire To Paint

The Road Through Howe Park Woods is an idealised woodland landscape painted in the Bob Ross style. This is our 2nd full day event to be held at Westbury Arts Centre, Foxcovert Road, Shenley Wood, MK5 6AA. As well as our full day painting lessons in Milton Keynes, we also do painting  evenings in Pubs and Bars.

The Road Through Howe Park Woods can be painted in a few different colour schemes yellow/green, blue/green, brown/orange, or even just plan black and white. It is your choice.

The Bob Ross technique helps people produce a fully detailed beautiful painting within a very short time. It uses the wet-on-wet style of painting and a number of specially designed paints, knives, brushes to produce clouds, mountains, trees and water within minutes. Learn more about Bob Ross and The Joy of Painting.

It doesn’t matter in the least if you haven’t picked up a paint brush for years, because you will walk away with your own unique piece of artwork. Our resident artist will take you, step-by-step, though then process of turning your blank canvas into your own special masterpiece. With a glass in one hand, and a paintbrush in the other, your skills will transfer painlessly to the canvas on your easel. You are guaranteed to produce a beautiful painting that you will be proud to hang on your wall.

As always, we provide everything that you need…… a 40cm x 100cm canvas, easel, brushes, paints, aprons, music and a great atmosphere where you can create to your heart’s content.

Guiding and Not Instructing

Once again, we’re only going to guide you, we’re not going to instruct you. If you want to do it your own way, then feel free. You can interpret our guidance in any way you like. If you want to change the colours to suit your home décor, then feel free to do so. We think though that the glazed monochrome simplicity is what makes this painting. It is great when people do their own thing, we love it when we learn a new way to do something.

The event starts at 9:45 am but it helps if you arrive around 15 minutes early to grab a seat, grab a cuppa and grab an easel. We start at 9.45, and will definitely by finished by 16.30. Westbury Arts Centre doesn’t have a bar, but we will have a couple of bottles of Vin Rouge and Vin Blanc to share at lunch.

Although we provide aprons, it might be worth wearing old clothes (just in case). Be warned that we will be using oil paints, and these take anything from a couple of days to a week to dry. It will be easy to take your painting home if you buy a frame. But if you don’t buy one then we have a way to protect your painting so that you can take it home.

Ticket Prices

Ticket prices of £69.00 for adults and £54.00 for under 18s include ALL materials required, tea, coffee, biscuits, and a Subway lunch. You can buy a frame for £20.00, but you don’t need to.

As well as our full day painting lessons in Milton Keynes, we also do painting  evenings in Pubs and Bars.
