Trying to get my new website up and running
Customising your Paint Night artwork to yourself is easy. It doesn’t matter if you are substituting a picture of your furry family member, or using an image of yourself or another family member.
All you need is access to a printer to print out A4, though an A3 printer would be good. A photocopier that can enlarge from A4 to A3 would be nice as well, but if not, you can enlarge from A4 to A3 using a normal printer or photocopier.
Paint Like Jack Vettriano. As stated on the Facebook post, I run Paint Nights in Pubs and Restaurants around Milton Keynes. People buy tickets, come along, have a couple of drinks and a good time as they paint a painting. I provide ALL equipment and materials, and you don’t need ANY experience AT ALL. At the end of the evening, you take your painting away with you.
I’m running a few “themes” this year, and one of them will be “Paint Like”, some well know artists. “Paint Like Van Gogh”, “Paint Like Monet”, etc. One of the evenings will be “Paint Like Jack Vettriano”. I will need some dancer models for this, who can provide a suitable photograph that I can use as a subject for people to paint.
Jack Vettriano did a number of paintings of dancers in surreal situations such as these. What I need is the dancer photograph – Butler Optional – and I can do the rest. I would be very grateful for anyone to dress up and photograph themselves in this way and email it to me Russell Collins. Then, I will have the difficulty of making a choice about which one would be the best and do a couple of trial paintings. I would then use that photograph as the subject for the Paint Night.
Take a look at the photographs, and others that you could Google. I would need a full height image – no cut off hands, legs etc and in a dancer’s pose, preferably Ballroom style, but happy to try another pose. Formal atire is a must – I need somethng classy, and trousers and gowns are easier to paint than arms and legs. You will need to be facing slightly away from the camera, as full facial features will take too long to paint.
I will give you 2 free seats at the Paint Night and also give you a frame that you can put your art in. It would be a good laugh if you could arrive in the outfits you wore for the photograph. I wouldn’t expect you to wear them whilst painting though.
You would need to sign a model release form and this is standard procedure in the visual arts sector. A Model Release form protects both sides (the subject and the artists). The Model Release Form lays down the conditions under which the image is made available. It makes it clear who owns the image, its copyright and reproduction rights (you would), and what it is to be used for. The Form also makes clear who owns the painted version of the image, its copyright and reproduction rights (I would). It is a legally binding document and could only be cancelled with the agreement of both sides.
So, if you are interested please email Russell Collins, or say “HI” at the next Ceroc Bucks event.

Recognised everywhere as one of the world’s most popular painters, Bob Ross has taught and inspired millions of people around the world and shown them that they can paint. His videos and TV shows are easily the longest running art progammes on televison. His beautiful paintings that he does in real time show how easy it is to paint. (more…)
A little blog post to tell you how you can view your event photos and videos.
Yes, we have a Paint Night way of doing things, it is behind what we do, and how we do it.
Paint Night is a social event first and an art class second. You are at a Paint Night Party because you want to have fun first of all, and do a painting class second. Negative criticism of anyone’s painting is strictly verboten. No matter how bad you think a painting is, how bad the perspective, how bad the colours or the subject or the style; I promise you someone out there will think it would look good on their wall. They will offer you thousands for it, the problem is though that they don’t live anywhere near us.
The jokes and puns will be bad by the way.
We want to make it easy. No drawing, as little tracing as possible. We provide stencils for the more complex shapes, and we keep the painting stages as simple as possible.
To be frank, we aren’t using the most expensive materials, but we aren’t using the cheapest either – somewhere in the middle. Our canvases are rugged, properly rectangular and won’t warp. Our easels are sturdy and our paints are mid-range with lots of pigments, and our brushes are likewise. We use the correct brushes for the job, and are happy to spend money on them.
We want to show you how to do it, not tell you what to do. If you want to do it differently – fine by us. Take a look at the 2 pictures below. The first picture on the right, is the one I demonstrated to the group.
The second picture on the left, is the painting that a 12-year-old boy produced. He painted it the way his abstract artist Grandfather would have done it. We all thought that his version was the better one.
Look at this Eiffel Tower painting, it is a bit out of perspective. The trees are way too big and out of perspective from the point of view of the observer. The Eiffel Tower is too big and the people in the Boulevard too, out of scale. Who cares? Not the people coming to the Paint Night to paint it. Although some will paint it like this, others could turn the canvas on its side, scale the Eiffel Tower and trees down so that it becomes a more traditional styled painting.
The viewpoint of the artist could change so the figures are more in perspective, but maybe it wouldn’t be so striking. It could be striking though if the sky was that of Van Gogh’s starry night. It could be turned into a night scene, on a black canvas with ultra-violet paint.
How about changing the colours of the trees to blue, or turquoise, or yellow? What about painting the Eiffel Tower as a Christmas Tree? Put snow on the ground and on the trees, and Christmas lights on the Tower. How about bringing Darth Vader’s Death Star into the picture. Turn the Eiffel Tower into a ground-based laser weapon and let the two slug it out. You want to do your own thing – feel free.
About half of our guests at each Paint Nights are first timers who say they can’t paint, and I say they can, and I prove it. The embarrassing thing also, is that many of these non-painting guests, do a better picture of my demonstration picture than I have done.
I like to add a little art education into my Paint Nights. Maybe a few words on colour mixing and properties – you don’t add black to darken colours, you add purple. A few words on how to get perspective right, and the difference between air and ground perspective.
This is our Paint Night Philosophy, and we hope you tell us if we don’t live up to it.
Take a look at our upcoming events.

This blog post deals with the Covid19 Safeguards that we are putting in to place and is being continually upgraded.
I have been thinking about what I can do to make the Pub Painting Classes more interesting and varied. I have had so many ideas that I thought I would put them into a blog post rather than hit your email in-box with a long Mailchimp based email. To know more about my ideas that cover subjects, styles, colour, materials, context, downloads etc. then read on.
Come to one of our Pub Paint Nights socials and paint a picture like those on this page – No Experience Necessary AT ALL. It is simple. Choose the event you want to attend, buy a ticket, come along and enjoy yourself. They are Fun Art, not Fine Art and No Experience Necessary AT ALL. View our next Paint Night events.
We also run Bob Ross painting days as well. Email Russell Collins with any questions that you have.
Cinnamon Cooney AKA The Art Sherpa is a slightly crazy, but highly lovable, bubbly and adorable Texan. She has taken on the responsibility of showing everyone (of all skill and none) that they can paint. At least twice a week her alter-ego, The Art Sherpa, uploads detailed and free videos onto YouTube that show how complex paintings can be created in a very simple manner. Although her videos are detailed, they are easy to follow, and the artwork simple to copy. The Art Sherpa is to Acrylic painting what Bob Ross is to oil painting. (more…)
I thought I would say a few things about ideas for the future as I want to continue to provide ever improving quality events.
The Joy of Painting is the name of the series of TV painting lessons run by Bob Ross the American painter. During each half-hour episode, Bob Ross would show and describe the techniques he used to produce his landscape paintings in 30 minutes.
It doesn’t matter whether you call it a Brush party, a Paint Night Party, a Paint and Sip night or even a Booze and Brushes night, the aim is till the same – have fun with friends in a creative setting. (more…)
I run Bob Ross lessons in Milton Keynes. In fact it appears that I am the only Bob Ross instructor in Buckinghamshire. If I can’t bring the Bob Ross way of painting into the Milton Keynes and Buckingham area, then I should resign from the human race.
Our painting lessons in Milton Keynes, aren’t just held in Pubs and Bars in the evenings. We also do weekend painting lessons at the Westbury Arts Centre on the west side of Milton Keynes. Come to one of our paining lessons and you will take home your own magnificent wall filler For further information:
Relaxation classes come in different formats; yoga, meditation, mindfulness, reiki and many others. The best relaxation classes though can be those based around painting, especially when in a pub or restaurant.
When you paint, whether individually, or as part of a group, you enter your own world. You are in charge in that world and you can create what you want. We don’t tell you what to do in our Paint Nights, we just show you how to do it, and you do the rest.
Painting courses in Milton Keynes come in all shapes and sizes, and are run at various times of the day. Surely though, the best painting courses in Milton Keynes must be the ones held in a pub in the evening. We aren’t just an art event, but a social event as well.
Our paintings cover almost any subject from Paris to London, and Landscapes to Seascapes. We make every Paint Night a different Paint Night.
Paint Night Party came into being as a result of a post about Paint and Sip events on a Facebook group for Bob Ross Certified Ross Instructors. I googled Paint and Sip and learnt how people could learn to paint in a great social setting – THE PUB.
I was looking at ways how I could earn extra money from my art and was thinking about how I could sell more paintings. Rather than sell paintings, why not teach them how to paint in a good social setting. A social event first, an art event second.
